A BOLD New Voice of Leadership
Hi, I am Nelson Gabriel, President & CEO of MADE MEN, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower individuals and communities to succeed through education, training and connections to sustainable resources.
I am father, speaker, and community organizer.
Prior to founding MADE MEN, I served as Senior Pastor of several African Methodist Episcopal Churches of the Midwest Annual Conference.
I also served as CEO of Beyond The Walls International, a Midwest organization designed to help men and women reenter society from incarceration; and CEO of Unity in the Community, a mentoring organization that hosted the United States Department of Education’s – Voices in Action National Youth Summit.
From 1987-1991, I served as a Louisiana Democratic Representative (House District 90B), in which I was the Youngest Elected Official in both the State of Louisiana and the United States of America. In 1990, I was recognized by JET Magazine as the country’s youngest elected official.
Reflecting on my personal mistakes in life, my daily mantra is, “I cannot walk around allowing shame to limit or define my life's goals, nor can I allow it to shape other individual’s goals as they try to start over.”
I am the son of the late Mildred Gabriel and Nelson Robertson; the Godchild of the late Ernest N. “Dutch” Morial, New Orleans’ First Black Mayor. I am the proud father of three children: Damielle, Coby and Neichelle.
Now, I seek your support in becoming the Kansas Representative for District 35!
